For the 18th year in a row, pooches large and small strutted their stuff in Fort Greene Park for the annual Great PUPkin dog costume contest, put on by the pet society Fort Greene Pups.
Saturday's contest was epic, with more than 120 contestants and their enthusiastic owners who created get-ups that had to be seen to be believed (including the winner, “Dog Llama,” best appreciated in motion).
A panel of judges, including Public Advocate Letitia James, picked three top costumes and the audience chose the winners by cheering for their favorites. After Dog Llama, second place went to “The Milkman Joke” — two dogs, two humans and a very well-placed baby bump — and third place went to “Furrestree,” a group costume complete with sound effects (see video below).
