EAST NEW YORK — A 17-year-old student was stabbed outside a Brooklyn high school Thursday afternoon, police said.

The teen was stabbed in the torso with a sharp object near W. H. Maxwell Career and Technical Education High School at 145 Pennsylvania Ave. near Glenmore Avenue around 3:20 p.m., according to officials.

The student had been fighting with another individual earlier in the day and was attacked when he was leaving school, an NYPD spokesman said.

He was taken to Kings County Hospital and his injuries were not considered life-threatening, police said.

It was unclear whether the attacker was another student, according to officials, and no arrests had been made as of Thursday afternoon.

DOE officials said they are working closely with the NYPD as they investigate and will provide the school with ongoing support.
