Political Film Festival Coming to Hell’s Kitchen Ahead of Election Day

HELL’S KITCHEN — The Columbus Library is going to Washington ahead of this year's presidential election.

The library at 742 10th Ave., between West 50th and 51st streets, will host screenings of "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington," "All The President’s Men" and five other political movies as part of its "Election Film Festival" leading up to Nov. 8.

“We try to keep up with what’s going on in our community,” branch manager Jose Martinez said. “We wanted to spark our community’s interest.”

The following films will be shown at the festival:

► Monday, Oct. 31, at 12 p.m. — "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington"

► Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 12 p.m. — "All The President’s Men"

► Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 12 p.m. — "All The King’s Men"

► Thursday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. — "The Great McGinty"

► Friday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m. — "The Ides of March"

► Monday, Nov. 7, at 12 p.m. — "W."

► Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 12 p.m. — "The Manchurian Candidate" with Frank Sinatra

The library also has books written by the presidential candidates on display, Martinez noted.
