FINANCIAL DISTRICT — An MTA bus driver was arrested Saturday after fatally striking a female pedestrian and dragging her several blocks across the Financial District Friday, police said.

Upper West Side resident Bella-Yury Krementsova, 58, was walking near the Staten Island Ferry terminal when she was hit by the northbound QM7 bus and pulled under a rear wheel, then dragged up Trinity Place to Edgar Street about 5:40 p.m., the FDNY and sources said.

The driver, Roger Weckworth, 63, stopped the bus when another pedestrian knocked on the window to alert him of the woman underneath, sources said.

Krementsova was pronounced dead at the scene, and Weckworth was taken to Beth Israel Hospital for evaluation, according to the NYPD.

He was later arrested, and charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian, and failure to yield to a pedestrian causing injury, police said.
