NEW YORK CITY — A man was slashed inside the bathroom of a Union Square Old Navy store Friday evening, police said.

The 44-year-old man was inside the bathroom of the 610 Sixth Ave. Old Navy about 5:40 p.m. when he was approached by an unidentified man and slashed across his lower left abdomen, police said.

The suspect then took $80 in cash from the man's left pants pocket before fleeing the scene, according to the NYPD.

The victim was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, and is in stable condition, police said.

The NYPD on Sunday released surveillance footage of the alleged slasher. He was described by police as being in his late 20s or early 30s, with a beard, and was last seen wearing a two-toned gray sweatshirt, black pants and black sneakers.

There have been no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

Anyone with information in regards to this slashing is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at (800)577-TIPS, or for Spanish, (888)57-PISTA(74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES), then entering TIP577.
