Police Release Video of Suspect in Attempted Bronx Rape

By Aidan Gardiner | October 21, 2016 10:13am

THE BRONX — Police have released surveillance footage of a suspected would-be rapist who was fought off by his intended victim in her Soundview home Tuesday morning.

The 29-year-old victim walked into her home just before 2 a.m. when a man, who can be seen in video released Thursday night, grabbed her in a chokehold from behind, NYPD officials said.

It's unclear how the man got into the woman's home.

They struggled with each other and fell to the floor where the suspect hit her in the face and tried to rape her, police said.

She kicked him repeatedly, prompting him to give up and flee, officials said.

The woman was treated at an area hospital where she was listed in stable condition, police said.

The suspect is in his 20s, standing 5-foot-9 and weighing roughly 150 pounds. He was last seen in blue jeans with a gray T-shirt, police said.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
