BROOKLYN — A naked man who threw a woman to the sidewalk and tried to rape her was arrested Tuesday when police found him exposing his genitals in public, according to the NYPD.
Zurry Hinds, 32, of Brooklyn, fled from police when they found him with his genitals in his hand on Utica Avenue near Avenue I around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, the NYPD said.
Hinds was apprehended after a struggle and later identified by police as the man who tried to rape a 23-year-old woman in August, police said.
A naked Hinds snuck up behind the woman, grabbed her by the neck, and forced her to the ground on Avenue J near East 55th Street on Aug. 29 around 11:15 p.m., police said.
He fled when his would-be victim fought him off, but was later spotted by surveillance footage walking down East 52nd Street without any clothing.
Hinds has been charged with attempted rape, forcible touching, sexual abuse and public lewdness.
