CROWN HEIGHTS — Police are looking for a young man caught on camera robbing a discount store at gunpoint, then taking off with cash in a backpack.

The robbery took place on Monday at 99 Cent Dreams on St. John's Place between Schenectady and Utica avenues in Crown Heights, police said.

The suspect walked into the store around 9:43 a.m., the NYPD said, and approached the counter where a 41-year-old woman was working. He put a black backpack on the counter, then took out a handgun and demanded money from the worker.

The woman complied and put an undetermined amount of cash in the bag. The suspect then fled the store, police said.

The police department released a video of the incident on Friday showing the suspect, who is in his twenties, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black jeans and black sneakers.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at (800) 577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, (888) 57-PISTA (74782).
