Shake Shack App Will Let You Fast-Track Your Burger Order

By Veronika Bondarenko | October 18, 2016 11:02am

Shake Shack's lines could soon be a thing of the past.

The burger chain with the famously long wait is testing a food ordering app, the company announced Monday.

The iOS phone app will let customers order menu items to pick up from Shake Shack's location at 600 Third Ave., between 39th and 40th streets. Food will be prepared in 15-minute increments and users will get a text when their order is ready for pick-up.

Shake Shack said its development team is treating the app as a trial run for gauging the popularity of online ordering. It does not have a timeline for bringing it to the restaurant's other locations.

"We’ve got a lot to learn and we intend to take our time listening to our guests and tweaking the app before launching it in additional markets,” said the eatery's CEO Randy Garutti in a press release.

The app also features a live camera showing the lines at Shake Shack's Madison Square Park location, a list of restaurant locations and an online calendar of weekly frozen custard flavors.

When it comes to mobile food orders, Shake Shack joins other popular restaurant chains such as Starbucks and Chipotle which both recently launched their own ordering apps.
