BROOKLYN — Police on Friday released a sketch of a man they said tried to rape a woman while wandering the streets of Brooklyn naked.

The unidentified woman was walking home Aug. 29 around 11:15 p.m., near East 55 Street and Avenue J, when the nude man grabbed her by the neck, threw her to the ground and tried to rape her, police said.

The woman was able to free herself and escape, before alerting the police. She refused medical attention, the NYPD said.

The man was captured on surveillance video, and was first spotted walking naked down East 52nd Street near Avenue J about 6 p.m. on Aug. 12, according to the NYPD. Police described him as between 25 and 35 years old, and between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall.
