By Aidan Gardiner | September 8, 2016 8:52am

BROOKLYN — A naked man grabbed a woman by her neck and threw her to the ground before trying to rape her, police said, adding that the man had been spotted walking nude in the area before.

He was walking naked down Avenue J near East 55th Street when he came up behind a 23-year-old woman, grabbed her by the neck and threw her to the ground before trying to rape her on Aug. 29 about 11:15 p.m., police said.

"Pray for me," he then told her, according to the Daily News.

He fled the scene and hadn't been arrested as of Thursday morning, police said.

The man, who can be seen in surveillance footage released by police Wednesday, had first been spotted walking down East 52nd Street, near Avenue J, about 6 p.m. on Aug. 12, an NYPD spokesman said Thursday morning.

The suspect is between 25 and 35 and about 5 feet 8 inches, police said.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
