KINGSBRIDGE — The victim of a brutal group beating in The Bronx has died from his injuries 10 days after the attack, police said.

Donell Soto, 36, was arguing with a woman outside 5523 Broadway around 4:15 a.m. on Oct. 2 and pushed her, at which point a group of people intervened, police said.

Hector Quezada, 23, punched Soto in the head, knocking him to the ground, and five other people then repeatedly punched and kicked him, according to court documents.

Soto was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical condition after the attack and died from his injuries on Wednesday, police said.

His death has been ruled a homicide, according to the NYPD.

Jenny Gutierrez, 22, Joel Hernandez, 23, and Quezada have all been arrested and charged with gang assault in the attack, although the charges could be upgraded based on Soto's death, according to police and the Bronx District Attorney's Office.

Officials are still searching for three more people wanted for questioning in the fatal beating, police said.

Quezada was remanded and is due back in court on Oct. 26, while Gutierrez and Hernandez were ordered held on $500,000 bail and are both due back in court on Oct. 25, according to the Bronx DA's office.

Anyone with information about this homicide is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
