Take a bite out of classic architecture.
Competing in the city's first-ever "Great Architectural Bake-Off," teams from local architecture and design firms constructed seven of the world's iconic buildings — including several from New York City — out of cake and other edible materials Tuesday afternoon at Gallery 151 in Chelsea. (The event organized by design firm WATG was part of Archtober, a month-long annual festival that celebrates the city's architecture.)
Judges — or Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood alternates, as "Great British Bake Off" fans may prefer to think of them — evaluated entries based on three criteria: realism, creative use of materials and taste.
A cake in the shape of an Azerbaijan conference center ultimately won the contest, but four iconic New York structures made of flour, sugar and Rice Krispies won our hearts.
