BROOKLYN — A 9-month-old boy's skin was burned off when his father held him in scalding hot water inside a Brownsville apartment, prosecutors said Tuesday.
Andre Madden, 26, placed the baby in a bathtub inside his home on Pitkin Avenue, near Mother Gaston Boulevard, Sunday and held his arms and shoulders under the scorching water for more than two minutes, causing third-degree burns, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.
Madden burned the baby so severely that the boy’s skin peeled off and the water turned brown, prosecutors said.
The boy was taken to Nassau Community Medical Center with burns to his genitals, feet, legs and stomach that will leave scars, according to the DA’s office.
Madden was charged with assault, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of a weapon, prosecutors said.
He was ordered held on $50,000 bail.
