This "kid" has come a long way.
Award-winning actor, playwright and Inwood native Lin-Manuel Miranda hosted "Saturday Night Live" this weekend — and he didn’t waste his chance to shout out his current home of Washington Heights.
Miranda name-checked the neighborhood that inspired his musical “In the Heights” during a "Hamilton"-inspired opening monologue, as well as during the closing credits with the entire SNL cast on stage.
“Anyway, I can’t believe I’m up here right now. When I was just a kid growing up in Washington Heights — up in Manhattan — I dreamed about standing right here on this stage,” Miranda said, before launching into a song-and-dance number to the hit "Hamilton" song “My Shot.”
Residents of Washington Heights took notice and not only thanked Miranda, but celebrated seeing one of Uptown's own on the SNL stage.

Miranda is scheduled to appear at Washington Heights' United Palace Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 16, to kick off the “Reawaken Wonder at a Timeless Movie Palace” campaign and a series of film screenings that will continue through the fall.
