Forest Hills Bath & Body Works Reopens After Major Renovation

By Ewa Kern-Jedrychowska | October 10, 2016 6:05pm

QUEENS — The Forest Hills Bath & Body Works opened its doors again after a nearly 3-month renovation that included new decor and an expanded product range, the company said.

The store, at 70-46 Austin St. between Continental Avenue and 70th Road, reopened Friday attracting hundreds of customers on its first day after remodeling, a store employee said.

“I'm so happy it's back,” said Stacey Adams, 56, a Forest Hills resident who came to the store known for its lotions, shower gels, candles and perfumes, Sunday. “I missed it.”

The store's entire interior, including walls, flooring and ceilings, was gutted and redesigned as part of the $360,000 makeover, according to city records.

A large monitor displaying product ads has been installed in the back, and the store, which has been at that location for about 25 years, now features a new modern entrance.

It also boasts an expanded White Barn section, a division of Bath & Body Works that offers candles, decor and seasonal home fragrances, the company said.

"It makes you want to shop,” Adams said.

The store's overhaul is one of many recent projects that continue to reshape Austin Street, serving a major commercial strip in the neighborhood.

Target opened nearby in July, replacing Barnes & Noble, and in May Shake Shack launched its new location where Strawberry, a teen clothing retailer, once was. Several businesses also closed recently in the area, including Haagen-Dazs, located on the same block as Bath & Body Works, which shut down in September after more than two decades in business.
