BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — A city Parks Enforcement Patrol car was flipped over early Saturday morning in Brooklyn Bridge Park by a construction bulldozer that was stolen in what appears to be an act of criminal mischief, police and park officials said.
Multiple individuals broke into a maintenance and operations yard at Pier 2 uplands of the waterfront park at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, according to officials at Brooklyn Bridge Park.
The unknown individuals did not have keys, but managed to turn on and drive Brooklyn Bridge Park's utility vehicles and a Bobcat left at the site, park officials said.
The Bobcat appears to have been used to move, lift and turn over a car belonging to the Parks Department's enforcement patrol. Details of the vehicle's damage was not immediately known.
Photos of the damaged vehicle were published on A Walk in the Park.
The incident was caught on security cameras. Police confirmed an investigation is under way.
The Parks Department referred request for comment to Brooklyn Bridge Park.
