EAST ELMHURST — Now you may never fall asleep again.

Days before a person with a knife and a clown mask menaced a boy on a 6 train, a 16-year-old boy looked out of his bedroom window and spotted a person dressed as a clown lurking outside, according to sources.

The clown then suddenly looked up and waved a knife at him, they said.

The terrifying incident happened near 19th Road and 78th Street next to LaGuardia airport at 11:30 p.m. Monday, sources said.

Sources said they are looking at whether the incident is connected to Wednesday's clown attack on a northbound 6 train at the 96th Street station. In that incident, a person in a colorful clown outfit and clown mask stood in the doorway of the train, armed with a kitchen knife, preventing people from exiting.

A 16-year-old boy from New Jersey managed to escape the train and ran to the turnstiles, then turned to find the clown on the other side of the turnstiles, still holding the knife, police said.

No arrests have been made in connection to either incident.

Police have told New Yorkers not to fear creepy clowns in the wake of a string of reports of clowns sightings across the country, including some trying to lure children into the woods.
