CORONA — Kanye West abruptly ended his close-out performance Sunday night at The Meadows festival citing a "family emergency" after his wife was reportedly robbed at gunpoint in a Paris apartment.
West was in the middle of performing "Heartless" when he told the crowd "I'm sorry, I'm sorry ... family emergency, I have to stop the show."
He was the last performer at the two-day festival, and his set lasted around 20 minutes, according to fans on social media.
It was later reported Kim Kardashian, West's wife, was robbed at gunpoint by armed men who pretended to be police at around 2 a.m. Paris time. That's 8 p.m. in New York City, an hour before West took the stage.
The robbers took off with around $11.24 million in jewelry, according to the Wall Street Journal. Kardashian was in Paris for Fashion Week, and was staying in an apartment in the city center, the Journal reported.
Organizers of The Meadows, held in Citi Field's parking lot, said in a statement their thoughts were with West and his family.
"We appreciate the great show he put on for fans to close out the inaugural Meadows festival," they wrote.
