ASTORIA — Service on the N/Q line was temporarily suspended from Queens into Manhattan Monday because of switch problems between the Lexington Avenue-59th Street and Queensboro Plaza stations, according to the MTA.

Southbound N and Q trains heading into Manhattan were terminating at Queensboro Plaza shortly after 11 a.m., resuming with "significant delays" about 20 minutes later, according to updates on the MTA's website.

The problems came after 7 train service between Queens and Manhattan was briefly suspended Monday morning because of mechanical problems at Fifth Avenue — though the two incidents were not related, according to an MTA spokesman.

Straphangers complained on Twitter of being stuck on the N train between Queensboro Plaza and Manhattan for more than an hour.

An MTA spokesman said the train in question had to be taken back to the Lexington Avenue-59th Street station because of the switch problem.

Northbound Q trains were terminating at the 57th Street-7th Avenue station, while some southbound R trains were running on the F line between 36th Street in Queens and West 4th Street in Manhattan, according to the MTA.

Some southbound N trains were also running on the R line between Canal Street and DeKalb Avenue.

Riders were warned to expect delays on the B, D, F, M, N, Q and R lines, according to the MTA's website.
