You may never need to leave your apartment ever again.

Joining such competitors as Amazon Prime Now, Postmates, and UberRush, Google planned to launch its delivery service in New York City Wednesday.

Google Express lets users order products from multiple retailers on their mobile devices. The service promises two-day delivery.

Merchants participating in Google Express include Costco, L'Occitane, PetSmart, Payless and Whole Foods, where dinnertime lines can discourage the most tenacious New Yorker.

The service is charging $95 for a yearlong membership, but shoppers can also pay per purchase, at a minimum of $4.99 per order.

Its advantage over Amazon is the brand-name merchandise it makes available on one platform, Google Express general manager Brian Elliott told Business Insider.

"We have this range of merchants that people really love, so they don't think about this as 'online shopping' — they just think of this as shopping," he said.

Google Express made its debut in 2013, and its expansion Wednesday includes states throughout the Northeast region. Previously, it limited East Coast deliveries to Boston and Washington, D.C.
