MIDTOWN — A cyclist's leg was "severely" injured when a truck driver hit him near the Port Authority Bus Terminal and fled the scene Friday morning, police said.

The cyclist, who is in his 30s, was riding south on Eighth Avenue about 3:30 a.m. when a truck driving eastbound on West 40th Street hit him and drove away, an NYPD spokesman said.

"He was lying in the middle of the street. He was on his right side. It looked like his right leg was twisted all kinds of crazy, but he was moving a little," said Michael Bolden, 60, who was heading to his job at Arby's at the time.

"There was a lot of blood. They were struggling to stop it. The ambulance came, got him and just took off. They didn't wait around," Bolden said.

He suffered a "severe right leg injury" and was treated at Bellevue Hospital, the spokesman said.

"To hit somebody and keep moving? That's a punk act," Bolden said.
