MURRAY HILL — A 21-year-old New York University student told police she was raped by a driver who picked her up from a bar on East 33rd Street, according to NYPD sources.

The woman left the bar, which police did not identify, at about 1 a.m. Saturday morning and called for a car, sources said.

She was drunk at the time and could not remember what kind of car picked her up, but she told police that once she was inside, the driver hit her, forced her to perform oral sex and raped her, sources said.

The driver then dropped her off near her home in Union Square, and she called the police at about 4 a.m., sources said.

It's not clear who the woman called for the car or how long she was in the vehicle.

A spokesman for the NYPD confirmed that a rape was reported and said police are investigating.

NYU's director of public affairs did not respond to several requests for comment.
