Bank Robber Claiming to Have Bomb Makes Off With Cash, Police Say

GREAT KILLS — A man claiming to have a bomb robbed a Staten Island bank, police said.

The suspect walked into Richmond County Savings Bank at 3879 Amboy Rd. at 3:19 p.m. on Tuesday and yelled that he had a bomb and was going to blow himself up, the NYPD said.

The man then demanded money from the teller and fled north on Amboy Road with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

The bank robber was described by police as about 50 years old and 6 feet tall with a beige stocking cap over his head. He was last seen wearing a black hat, a red sweater and blue jeans.
