UPPER EAST SIDE — A man was found dead after falling onto subway tracks on the Upper East Side Saturday morning, narrowly missing a collision from an oncoming 6 train, police said.

Witnesses saw the unidentified victim stumbling near the edge of the platform inside the 77th Street station around 5:30 a.m., before toppling over onto the tracks, police said.

The driver of a 6 train entering the station managed to see the man on the tracks, and stopped the train before colliding, according to police.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has not yet determined a cause of death, police said.

The incident comes just 10 days after a man was struck and killed after jumping in front of a 6 train at the same station.
