VIDEO: Improv Group Pranks New Yorkers With Fake Press Conference

By Ben Fractenberg | September 13, 2016 1:52pm

"Can you tell me your stance on ‘Netflix and chill?'"

That was just one of the questions lobbed at unsuspecting passersby who stepped in front of a mic stand set up in front of the New York Public Library.

In the video, more than a dozen “reporters” blend into the crowd, waiting for people to take a photograph in front of a stand adorned with fake microphones from local news outlets like NY1.

Once people stepped in front of the mic, dozens reporters quickly descended while a fake press person helped direct the Q&A.

The actors did not shy away from the tough questions.

“What’s your response to claims that you receive texts but [do] not respond to them till days later?” asked a reporter after a young woman approached the stand.

“No, no that’s lie,” she responded while laughing.

The fake press conference stunt, which was posted to YouTube Tuesday, was the latest from Improv Everywhere, the pranksters who organize the annual No Pants Subway Ride.
