CORONA — A meeting will be held after the US Open to discuss security around Flushing Meadows-Corona Park after the Queens Museum closed its doors due to the increase in police around their facility, officials said.

City Councilwoman Julissa Ferreras-Copeland said officials from the USTA will discuss the heightened security with other park tenants to prepare better for next year.

The museum's closure was prompted by unprecedented security that surrounded their site with the opening of the Grandstand Stadium a few feet from the museum.

"While we are excited to have the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, the USTA and NYPD must work with all of the Park's institutions — including the Queens Museum and the Queens Theatre — to ensure they are not negatively impacted by the tournament," Ferreras-Copeland said in a statement.

"We must come together to create a mutually beneficial arrangement that allows New Yorkers to enjoy the Open and also experience the best of what our Park has to offer."

Officials with the US Open have not returned multiple emails requesting comment on the museum's closure.
