Man Selling 'Nutcrackers' Kicks Arresting Officer in Groin, NYPD Says

By Aidan Gardiner | September 6, 2016 2:17pm

BROOKLYN — A man kicked a police officer in the groin and was shot with a Taser while being arrested for illegally selling boozy "nutcrackers" in East Flatbush Monday night, NYPD officials said.

The man, whose name and age were not released, was caught selling the fruity hooch near Utica and Maple avenues about 7:30 p.m., an NYPD spokesman said Tuesday afternoon.

As officers took him into custody, he kicked one of them in the groin, the spokesman said.

A crowd began to gather around and disrupt the arrest, so the first officers called in backup, police said.

The man also struggled with officers as they tried to place him in an NYPD vehicle, police said.

They eventually subdued him with a Taser, sending him to Kings County Hospital, where he's listed in stable condition, police said.

Police also arrested six other people from the disruptive crowd, an NYPD spokesman said.

The seven people were all awaiting formal charges Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The officer who was kicked didn't require medical attention, police said.
