Chinese Food Deliveryman Robbed of Food and Cash, Prosecutors Say

By Nicholas Rizzi | August 29, 2016 2:45pm

GREAT KILLS — A Chinese food deliveryman was robbed of $130 and his food, prosecutors said.

The worker was in front of 6 Katan Ave. in Staten Island when Giovanni Destefano, 24, and Elvis Tahirovic, 19, demanded his cash at 10:45 p.m. August 25, authorities said.

Tahirovic punched the driver in the face then took $130 cash from him, prosecutors said.

Destefano then went into the deliveryman's car and stole the food he was delivering, prosecutors said.

The pair was arrested later that night and charged with robbery and criminal possession of stolen property, the Staten Island District Attorney's office said.

Tahirovic's bond was set at $5,000 and he's due back in court on Monday, according to online court records.

His lawyer could not be reached for comment.

Destefano's bond was also set at $5,000 and he's due back in court on Aug. 31, according to online court records.

He was previously arrested in Manhattan in July and charged with fare evasion and criminal trespassing, court records show.

His lawyer, Gregory Clarke, declined to comment on the case.
