Staten Islanders are splurging on flower deliveries — in fact, they're spending more on the expensive, romantic gesture than any other zip code in the city aside from one neighborhood in Manhattan, a new study shows.

Residents who purchased flowers from Flowers.com and live in the Staten Island 10314 zip code spent the second most in the city on flower deliveries over the past two years, according to a recent study of floral sales data by RentHop and Flowers.com.

The zip code 10314, which represents Bulls Head, New Springville and Heartland Village, spent a total of $3,068 on flower deliveries since August 2014. An average individual order costs between $70 and $100, according to a RentHop data analyst.

The amount was only beat by one other zip code, 10016, which encompasses Murray Hill in Manhattan.

Staten Islanders in 10314 weren't just buying and sending flowers; they also received $3,400 worth of flower deliveries from Flowers.com, a total that again only came behind Murray Hill's record.

The study also found that the average cost per purchase was highest in Columbus Circle ($126.71), Morningside Heights ($107.74) and the Financial District ($91.99).

New Yorkers receiving the priciest bouquets from Flowers.com mostly lived in Brooklyn and The Bronx. Flowers sent to East New York and Cypress Hill cost an average of $89.30; to Hunts Point in The Bronx, $80.54; to Crown Heights, $78; and to Eastchester, $76.

The study doesn't take into account flower delivery services other than Flowers.com, such as local florists or bodegas. Romantic souls in neighborhoods with only a few florists and a limited bodega flower selection would be much more inclined to order flowers for delivery than those who walk past floral displays on their street.
