UPPER EAST SIDE — A Brooklyn man was struck and killed by a 5 train after falling onto the tracks early Sunday morning at the East 86th Street subway station, police said.

Witnesses told police they saw a man stumble and fall onto the tracks in front of a southbound train at roughly 5:40 a.m. on Sunday, according to authorities.

The 57-year-old was pulled out from under the train and was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:09 a.m.

Police had not released the man's identity as of Monday morning, pending family notification.

There is no evidence that he was intoxicated, and the incident was ruled accidental, officials said. The NYPD's transit bureau is nonetheless investigating.

The MTA declined to comment.
