FLATBUSH — Turn an unwanted gun into cash this weekend as part of a buyback program run by the NYPD and Brooklyn District Attorney at a Flatbush church.

The “Gun Buyback” event encourages residents to bring guns in any condition to the Clarendon Road Church on Saturday, the DA’s office said.

Operable handguns and assault rifles will be exchanged for a bank card worth $200 and operable shotguns and rifles will be exchanged for $25, upon inspection by NYPD personnel, organizers said. Those turning in guns will not be questioned about the weapons or asked for identification, the DA said.

Inoperable guns will also be accepted at the event, though those will not be exchanged for money. All guns should be unloaded and brought to the church in a paper or plastic bag or box.

Gun dealers and active or retired law enforcement personnel are not allowed to participate in the buyback event, organizers said.

Attendees can turn in as many guns as they’d like at the event, but there is a $600 bank card maximum for each participant.

The buyback will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Clarendon Road Church at 3304 Clarendon Road on Saturday, Aug. 27. For more information, visit the Brooklyn District Attorney’s event page.
