Car Belonging to Man's Mother Stolen After Dispute with Friends, Police Say

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — A man lost his mother's $10,000 car after two acquaintances stole it following a dispute, police said.

The 38-year-old man was arguing with two men he knew inside his mother's 2012 Volkwagen Jetta, which was double parked in front of 360 Furman St. on Aug. 8 at about 5:40 a.m., according to the police report.

The man and his two acquaintances — as their relationship is described in the report — got out of the car and continued their dispute. The key had been left in the ignition, police said.

The two men then jumped back into the car and fled down Atlantic Avenue.

Other crimes in the 84th Precinct, according to police, include:

► A 52-year-old man was arrested after he was found burglarizing a Dean Street home on Aug. 13, police said. The thief was found on the second-floor of the residence, where the glass of the front door had been broken. He was found in possession of $38 in cash, check books, miscellaneous cards, jewelry, a label marker, two iPods, foreign currency, a charging cable, cologne and a pink FitBit.

► Pricey Nikon camera gear was stolen from a 34-year-old man on the R train on Aug. 8. The victim said he was riding the R train at the Clinton and Montague streets stop, with his messenger bag on the floor between his feet. An unknown thief plucked away the bag, which held two lenses and two lens cases worth more than $3,800.
