Would-Be Church Burglar Scared Off by Staffer, Police Say

​CORONA — An employee of a Baptist church thwarted a burglary attempt after startling the would-be thief, police said. 

A man entered Mount Horeb Church, at 109-20 34th. Ave, at around 12:30 p.m. on July 19, police said. 

He pried opened the door to the rear office and tried to fill a bag with items from the office, but he became startled after hearing a church worker, according to the police.

He fled without taking anything.

The suspect was last seen wearing a light-colored T-shirt with the letters 'LB' on it, and a dark-colored New Era baseball hat.
