Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani was taken to task on Twitter Monday after he made a speech during which he seemed to forget that 9/11 happened during the middle of his second term.
While speaking in support of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, Giuliani said, "By the way, under those 8 years before Obama came along we didn't have any successful radical Islamic terrorist attack in the United States."
He went on to criticize both President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State and current Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
The comments made by Giuliani, who was mayor during the 9/11 attacks, were picked up on Twitter as video from ABC 15 in Arizona circulated of the speech.
Twitter immediately jumped on Giuliani's remarks:
@davidmackau I can think of one.

@AndiMann @davidmackau I wonder what it is like to not have to worry about facts?

@davidmackau Except for that one that he turned into his personal triumph, and has been milking for all he can for the last 15 years.

"The mayor was referencing since 9/11," Trump campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks said in an email.
