Where To Get Food and Drink Deals for National Oyster Day

Unwind from a long work week with a little help from some fresh oysters.

Friday, Aug. 5 is National Oyster Day, and several restaurants around the city are offering tantalizing deals for seafood lovers.

► Ocean Prime, 123 W. 52nd St., Midtown 

From 2 to 11 p.m., Ocean Prime will be selling $1 oysters alongside cocktails of the day for $10. Patrons can also buy $10 sushi rolls, or $10 glasses of Moet Imperial sparkling wine. Anyone who tags @OceanPrimeNY and #NationalOysterDay on Instagram will be entered to win a giveaway of 14K white gold earrings with 6mm cultured pearls. 

White Oak, 818 10th Ave., Hell's Kitchen 

Patrons who want to sample a wide range of oysters without breaking the bank can head to White Oak and purchase oysters at reduced prices for National Oyster Day. Some prices are set around $3.50, while other varieties will be as cheap as 75 cents each. White Oak's set a goal to sell 1,500 of the bivalves on the day. If that happens, visitors who ordered at least one oyster and post videos or pictures on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook including @WhiteOakNYC could receive a coupon for $15 off their bill, or $30 off their next visit. 

► Avra Estatorio, 141 E. 48th St., Midtown East

Mediterranean food lovers can lounge in Avra and order a dozen of either malpeque or blue point oysters. Your order comes with a complementary glass of either white or red wine for $33.95. 

► Invite Only, 63 Gansevoort St., West Village

After 5 p.m., visitors can order a dozen of either East Coast or West Coast oysters and a bottle of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc for $60 total. 

Oyster Bar, Grand Central Terminal, 89 E. 42nd St., Midtown East

Commuters waiting for a train at Grand Central can head to Oyster Bar for the restaurant's classic oyster soup and oyster pan roasts. To celebrate National Oyster Day there will also be Fried Grand Central Oyster Bar oysters with chipotle-lime aioli and steak fries for $23.95. Visitors can also order an appetizer of roasted Oyster Bar blue point oysters with an arugula-bacon pesto butter for $11.95.

Kellari Taverna, 19 West 44th St., Midtown

This week is holds both Kellari's 10th year anniversary and National Oyster Day. The upscale Greek eatery will be offering a complementary oyster, and $1 oysters to follow at the bar from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The $1 will oyster deals will also be available at the restaurant every Monday after this week. 

City Crab Shack, 10 East 16th St., Union Square

This crab shack is going to be having a whole week of oyster deals starting on August 5th and ending on August 11th. On the first day there will be Long Island and Virginia oysters served for only 99 cents. There will also be a special menu that includes dishes like oyster BLT sliders, 3 for $13, and an oyster, shrimp, and crab based gumbo with dirty rice. 

The Ribbon, 20 W. 72nd St., Upper West Side 

You can find $1 East Coast oysters all day Friday. It'll leave more money for pairing unique cocktails like The Dotty and Westside Watermelon Sour with your meal.
