TRIBECA — A man in his 70s who was stopped by police Wednesday from jumping off a 22nd-story ledge on a TriBeCa building is a suspect in the beating death of his girlfriend, sources said.

The man, whose name was not released, was talked off the beam by an NYPD officer who spoke with him in Mandarin, after a tense four hours of negotiations at the 401 Broadway building, police confirmed.

Sources said the man is a suspect in the murder of his girlfriend, 61-year-old Huizhen Zhan, who was found Monday in her 65th Avenue home, covered with a sheet in her bed, with multiple cuts and a blow to her head.

Police declared the murder a homicide Wednesday. The suspect was traveling to the TriBeCa building Wednesday to meet with his lawyer, according to the Daily News.

The scene at 401 Broadway, where a man was pulled from a narrow beam by NYPD officers.

Police said the man was taken to Bellevue Hospital after his rescue at about 6:20 p.m. He has not been charged in connection to Zhan's death, police said.
