Queens Woman's Death Ruled Homicide, NYPD Says

QUEENS — The death of a 61-year-old woman who was found Monday in her basement apartment in Pomonok has been ruled a homicide, officials said.

Police found Huizhen Zhan in her bed with a pillow covering cuts to her face and head when they were called to her 65th Avenue home, near Parsons Boulevard, and found her about 7:15 p.m., according to NYPD officials. 

Zhan also had cuts on her arms and was covered in a sheet, police said.

The Medical Examiner found that Zhan's death was caused by a blow to her head, the NYPD confirmed.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
