Rent a 1-Bedroom Apartment for $847 a Month in East New York

EAST NEW YORK — Nearly 200 affordable apartments are up for grabs in East New York, with one-bedroom apartments starting at $847.

Applications for 191 new units are now open for Stanley Commons, a six-building development located at 656 Stanley Ave., 869 and 879 Van Siclen Ave., 271 Wortman Ave., and 910 and 924 Hendrix Place.

Apartments range from studios to three-bedrooms at the buildings, which include laundry and community rooms, a courtyard, play areas and parking.

A total of 102 one-bedroom units are available for $847 for individuals making between $30,412 and $38,100, and two-person households with annual earnings of up to $43,500.

Two-bedroom apartments range from $836 to $1,025 and are open to applicants making between $30,069 and $54,360, depending on the household size.

The buildings have 10 three-bedroom units available with rents between $963 to $1,182 for applicants making between $34,869 to $63,060, depending on household size.

Preference for 50 percent of the units will go to residents of Brooklyn Community Board 5, which covers East New York, Cypress Hills, Spring Creek, Starrett City, Gateway and Highland Park.

NYCHA residents will receive preference for 25 percent of the apartments and city employees get preference for five percent of the units.
