NEW BRIGHTON — A man allegedly threatened to kill an NYPD officer over the weekend as revenge for the death of Eric Garner, prosecutors said.

Lamont Edmondson, 31, allegedly told the officer "I'm going to kill you for what you guys did to Eric Garner" on a New Brighton street Saturday night, prosecutors said.

The arrest was first reported in the New York Daily News.

Edmondson was walking in front of 506 Richmond Terrace, almost two miles away from where Garner died, at about 11:20 p.m. when he spotted the officer stopped at a red light, prosecutors said. He stared at the officer then simulated a gun with his hand and pointed it at him, prosecutors said.

When the officer approached Edmondson, he threatened to kill him, dropped his bag, made fists and said, "Let's fight," according to court records.

Backup officers arrived at the scene and Edmondson was eventually arrested, prosecutors said.

Inside the precinct, Edmondson continued to threaten officers and told them "It doesn't matter, I'm still gonna kill all you guys when I get out of here. You guys better bring an army for me," according to court papers.

Edmondson  — who has previously been arrested 20 times — was charged with making a terroristic threat, menacing and harassment at his Sunday arraignment, according to the Staten Island District Attorney's office and the NYPD. A psychological exam was ordered and he was held without bail, the DA said.

Garner, 43, died more than two years ago after being put in a chokehold by NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo while being arrested for allegedly selling untaxed cigarettes on a Staten Island street.
