MOUNT HOPE — Police are looking for a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man and woman early Monday morning.
Police released a mugshot of the suspect, 37-year-old Luis Chacon, and asked the public for help locating him.
Beramy Garcia, 33, and Yajahira Duverge, 37, were near East 175th Street and Weeks Avenue when gunfire rang out about 5:14 a.m. Monday morning, an NYPD spokesman said.
Garcia, a father of two boys from Morris Heights, was hit in the head, back and wrist and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Duverge, who lived in Wakefield, was hit in the torso and transported by emergency responders to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.
Chacon has 25 previous arrests including for robbery in 1995 and 1997, criminal mischief and a number of burglaries, a police spokesman said.
