From August 12 to 28, the Fringe Festival NYC is will present over 200 off-off Broadway performances. The festival was established in 1997 to help emerging artists find an audience. It'll take place in venues all over Downtown Manhattan.

Some of the shows that have been featured in past Fringe festivals end up on Broadway. Broadway play Urinetown had its start at the 1999 New York Fringe Festival. Visitors could be witnessing a new Broadway hit in the making.

Here's what you'll need to know in order to make the most of Fringe Festival NYC:

Donations for the exhibit will go towards F2L, which "works to support queer and trans people of color in New York State whose lives are impacted by the prison-industrial complex," according to Fringe.
