Off-Duty MTA Bus Driver Charged With Drunk Driving After Crash, Police Say

BED-STUY — An off-duty MTA bus driver under the influence of alcohol was arrested Monday night after he crashed into another car in Brooklyn, police said.

Dwayne Steward, 35, was charged with driving while ability impaired following the crash at Schenectady Avenue and Herkimer Street about 9:40 p.m., police said.

No one was injured in the crash.

Steward has been a bus driver for more than five years, the MTA said.

"We will take appropriate disciplinary action pending the results of the investigation," spokeswoman Amanda Kwan said.
