Hey, man. Was the Rattata worth it?
A 25-year-old Brooklyn man fell into a pond while playing Pokemon GO in Prospect Park this week, an embarrassing fact that likely would have stayed among friends watching his live stream of the game if he hadn’t uploaded the entire thing to YouTube.
Albert Monina was hunting around for Pokemon in the park Monday night, according to Buzzfeed, when he came upon a wild Rattata, caught it, and then struck out to find a nearby lure.
“There’s some on the bridge!” a passerby tells him.
“I’m probably going to check that out!” he says, adding, tragically, “Wait, how do I even get up there?”
Moments later, the gamer plunges into water and his phone screen locks as you can hear — over the whooshing of the likely toxic algae-infested waters of Prospect Park — “Holy sh-t! I didn’t know that was water.”
But Monina, who was not harmed in the fall, the report said, seems to have a sense of humor about it, chuckling at himself.
“That was funny,” he says, laughing. “Pokemon GO. Holy sh-t.”
Indeed. Next time, maybe look for water types somewhere else?
