NEW YORK CITY — National French Fry Day — Wednesday, for those of you who haven't been counting down the days — might be just another day for those of us who treat every day like National French Fry Day. But luckily for lovers of the humble fry, Wednesday gives you the chance to really indulge your passion.

In case you’re jonsesin’ for more than your average French fries, we rounded up a list of unique offerings around the city that you can eat in celebration of the big day.

Desi Galli, 172 Ave. B between East 10th and East 11th streets, East Village

Honoring both her Canadian and Indian heritage, chef PriaVanda Chouhan brings Desi inspiration to the Quebecois staple of poutine. From 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. scarf down a plate of free Desi poutine, covered in tikka masala gravy, shredded paneer and topped with a sprinkle of Indian spices.

Pommes Frites, 128 MacDougal St., Greenwich Village

Think nationally, eat locally! What better way to celebrate National French Fry Day than to head over to the new Pommes Frites in Greenwich Village and celebrate once again the reopening in May of this Manhattan mainstay?

Virgil’s Real Barbecue, 152 W. 44th St. between Sixth and Seventh avenues, Theater District

Go hard with the Trainwreck Fries, which are smothered in melted cheese, smoked bacon, scallions, pickled jalapeños, and ranch dressing.

Hey Hey Canteen, 400 Fourth Ave. at Sixth Street, Gowanus

Maybe you’re looking to cleanse your palate, or maybe you’ve gotten your fill of potatoes (hard to imagine), but if you’re looking for a twist on your classic fries, get a load of the eggplant fries — served with shallot aioli — at this Gowanus eatery.
