THE BRONX — A cat that was rescued from a tree in The Bronx in April is now up for adoption and looking for a new home.

Missy, a domestic shorthair, previously belonged to Bronxite Rosalia Ortiz, but she said she could no longer keep the kitty because she has realized her granddaughter is allergic to cats.

"She’s a good cat, a great cat," Ortiz said. "She’s lovable when she wants to be."

Missy had crawled out of an open window at Ortiz's Burke Avenue apartment in April and ended up stuck in a tree for five days until Pedro Rosario, founder of the New Beginning Animal Rescue, climbed up the tree to rescue her.

She is now in the care of the New Beginning Animal Rescue and looking for a home.

Missy has recovered from her stay in the tree and is now healthy and up to date on all of her vaccines, according to the animal rescue group.

Ortiz stressed that she had not gotten rid of Missy because of any behavioral issues and said the only thing a new owner should be aware of is making sure she does not climb up and get stuck in any more trees.

"She’s a good cat," Ortiz said. "The only problem was that she was always going to the scaffold."
