QUEENS — Police are looking for a 33-year-old man with musical note tattoos on his face and neck who they said tried to strangle his 21-year-old girlfriend at a Queens subway station.

The couple got into an argument while riding on a Jamaica-bound E train on Saturday, June 25, around 9:30 p.m., authorities said.

They got off the train at the Union Turnpike station in Kew Gardens where the man, identified by the NYPD as Akeem Murphy, hit the woman on the left side of her face, police said.

The victim ran up the stairs toward the turnstiles, where Murphy caught up with her and started choking her from behind, police said.

The suspect then fled on a Jamaica-bound train, authorities said.

The victim was not seriously injured, police said.

It was not immediately clear what the couple fought about.

Police described Murphy as standing roughly 5-foot-10 and weighing 180 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He has tattoos depicting musical notes under his right eye and on his neck. He was last seen wearing a black Du-rag, blue sneakers, purple shirt and black jeans, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
