
NEW YORK CITY — New Yorkers will have an extra hour to take a dip on Thursday night as temperatures hover at a muggy 90 degrees.
The Parks Department announced on Thursday morning it will keep its Olympic and intermediate-sized pools open until 8 p.m. on Thursday, instead of the usual 7 p.m., to give people more time to cool off.
The National Weather Service on Wednesday issued a heat advisory effective through 8 p.m. on Thursday, with temperatures expected to hover around 90 — made worse by high humidity.

The city is also operating cooling centers for people affected by the heat. Information on cooling centers can be found online or by calling 311.
