BROOKLYN — The state Attorney General's office plans to meet with the family of an unarmed man who was fatally shot by a police officer during a road rage incident in East New York last week.

Staff at Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's office — which is tasked with investigating the shooting as part of a 2015 mandate from Governor Andrew Cuomo to probe all police shootings of unarmed civilians — will meet the family of Delrawn Small "in the coming days" and discuss their investigation into the shooting, officials said.

Delrawn Small was in a car with his girlfriend, baby and young girl around midnight July 4 when NYPD officer Wayne Isaacs cut him off at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Bradford Street, relatives told Rep. Charles Barron.

Small got out at a red light and began punching Isaacs through his driver's side window, prompting Isaacs, who had been heading to his home nearby after a tour of duty in the 79th Precinct, to pull out his service weapon and shoot Small dead, police said.

Surveillance footage shows the man punching the officer, sources said.

NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton said the shooting was sparked by a "road rage incident" and added that further details would come out during an investigation.

Family of Small gathered Wednesday night to mourn him and protest police brutality.

"Who is not standing here is my brother. My brother was the rock but he’s not here no more," said Small's brother, Victor Dempsey.

"At the end of the day he got shot by a cop for no reason in front of his family in our own neighborhood. I don’t understand it. If we don’t get justice I don’t know what the system is about," he added.
