Traffic Disrupted After Bricks Fall From Murray Hill Townhouse: Officials

MANHATTAN — Pedestrian and vehicle traffic was disrupted Wednesday afternoon on a stretch of East 38th Street in Murray Hill after bricks fell from a townhouse, according to the FDNY and witnesses.

The bricks fell from 136 E. 38th Street at Lexington Avenue at about 4:15 p.m., a fire department spokesman said.

No one was injured and the Department of Buildings was asked to inspect the stability of the building.

The street was reopened to traffic by 6:30 p.m., according to a worker at a cleaners on the corner of the intersection who did not want to provide his name.

The building was on the market in 2012 for nearly $4 million, when it was listed by Robert De Niro's son, Raphael De Niro, Curbed reported. It is no longer listed for sale but no further information was available about a purchase.
